About Roadverity

Roadverity is an independent educational resource covering U.S. driving records, DMV procedures, license suspension and reinstatement, driver points systems, driver compliance requirements, and financial-responsibility filings such as SR-22 and FR-44. Our goal is simple: help drivers understand exactly what a rule, fee, or filing requirement actually means — in plain language, backed by official sources.

Our Mission

Most people encounter this corner of the DMV system during a stressful moment — a suspended license, a points warning letter, an unfamiliar filing requirement. Official government pages are usually accurate but hard to parse, and much of what ranks alongside them online is written to sell an insurance policy or a lawyer’s services rather than to explain the process itself. Roadverity exists to close that gap: to be the page you land on that actually answers the question first.

What Roadverity Is — and Isn’t

  • We are an educational publication. Every guide is written to help you understand a process, a requirement, or a set of state rules.
  • We are not an insurance company, a law firm, or a referral service. We don’t sell policies, and we don’t recommend specific carriers or attorneys as the point of an article.
  • We are not a substitute for legal or financial advice. Nothing on this site should be treated as a recommendation for your specific situation — for that, consult a licensed attorney, insurance agent, or your state’s DMV directly.
  • We are transparent about how we research, when we update, and how to tell us when something’s wrong. See our Research & Fact-Checking and Corrections Policy pages.
Every state’s DMV, points system, and filing requirements are different — and they change. Always confirm current fees, thresholds, and deadlines with your state’s official DMV or Department of Insurance before acting.

How We Approach Every Guide

  • Government sources first. We prioritize state DMV/BMV sites, state statutes, and federal agencies over secondary commentary.
  • Dated and reviewed. Every article shows when it was published and when it was last fact-checked, because DMV rules and fees change — sometimes every legislative session.
  • State-specific, clearly labeled. We distinguish general national information from rules that apply only in a specific state.
  • Corrections welcomed. If you find an error, we want to know — see our Corrections & Updates Policy for how to report it.

Our Editorial Standards

  • Every guide goes through the same editorial process — primary-source research, cross-checking, and review — before it’s published.
  • Claims tied to a specific law, fee, or deadline are cited to an official source.
  • We do not accept payment for favorable coverage of any insurance company, law firm, or service provider.
  • Advertising on this site (via Google AdSense) is clearly separated from editorial content and never influences what we write or how we rank information within a guide.
